Ford 3.7 V6: "Entry Level" Engine Boasts Big Numbers

Each year, technology in the automotive world is rapidly advancing. Many car manufactures have a hard time reaching the industry standard, even rarer is it to see a manufacturer that exceeds this standard. The Ford built 3.7 V6 is a prime example of an "entry level" engine that surpasses the competition.

We could write a blog story about how great the latest Ford 5.0 V8 is (another amazing piece of machinery that puts out staggering numbers), but considering that the 3.7 V6 is the base motor found in vehicles such as the F150 and Mustang, the numbers that this motor puts out are comparable to the previous generation top model V8s.
The 3.7 V6 that was introduced in 2011 models, is an all aluminum motor, that runs off regular pump 87 octane. What makes this motor powerful and efficient are the twin independent variable camshafts (Ti-VCT), this allows the engine to intake more air at the right times for a larger combustion. The result is more power and better fuel efficiency.
In the truck division, the 3.7 V6 puts out better power and fuel mileage numbers than that of the competition from Dodge and Chevrolet. It's certainly not a motor that should be overlooked when considering buying a new F150.
The previous generation Mustang V6, prior to 2011 were offered with a 4.0L V6, now before you think that the 3.7L is a downgrade, guess again. The 4.0L Mustangs put out only 210 hp, where the 3.7 puts out 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, that's an extreme increase! The beauty of this, is that it actually gives the previous GT V8 version a run for its money.
The prior generation Mustang GT with the 4.6L V8, puts out 315 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. When comparing it head-to-head with the 3.7, the acceleration numbers are very close.
Mustang GT 4.6 V8: 0-60 mph time: 4.9 seconds. 1/4 mile time: 13.6 seconds
Mustang 3.7 V6: 0-60 mph time: 5.3 seconds. 1.4 mile time: 13.9 seconds
If you compare any Mustang GT prior to 2005, they wouldn't stand a chance up against the new Mustang V6.
It just goes to show how quickly Ford is advancing with their technology, as well as how fast and efficient the future of new cars are headed.
Don't forget that we're holding a huge Mustang sale for all of the Greater Toronto Area in Brampton. We have lots of Mustang V6 to choose from.
Just listen to the sweet tone of the Mustang 3.7 V6!
